Non-Linguistic Representation
In the lesson below, students are working together to create a to scale model of the solar system using toilet paper squares to represent the distances of each planet from the sun.
Cues, Questions, & Advanced Organizers/Summarizing & Note Taking
Throughout this lesson, students are researching Pluto and will use Two Column Notes to organize their data and determine whether or not they believe that Pluto should be classified as a planet. The students will use the POW+Tree strategy to guide them as they write a response stating their beliefs.
Identifying Similarities and Differences
This lesson allows students to experimentally get involved with probability. Partners will complete marshmallow tosses and gather data. Then the students will compare and contrast the data which will be represented in different types of graphs in order to draw conclusions about properties of experimental probability.
